Search across feedback
Find posts with full-text search in the Feedback area and on your portal, and combine search with filters and saved views.
Search helps your team find the exact feedback it needs in seconds, and helps portal users find existing requests before posting duplicates. This article explains where search works, how results are matched, and how to combine search with filters.
Where search works
- Feedback (admin): search across every post your team manages.
- Your portal: a public search bar so users can find existing requests.
Search in the Feedback area
- Open Feedback from the admin sidebar.
- Click the search bar at the top of the list, or press
/to focus it. - Type your keywords. Results update as you type.
Tip: Use specific terms. "dark mode" returns better results than "mode".
How matching works
Search uses full-text matching on two fields:
Field | What it covers |

Title | The post headline |
Content | The full post body |
Results are ranked by relevance, and matches in the title rank higher than matches only in the content. Words are matched by their stem, so "export" also finds "exports" and "exporting".
Note: Search looks at post titles and content only. It doesn't search comments, tags, or voter names. Use the tag filter to narrow by tag.
Search tips
- Use nouns and specific terms: "CSV export" rather than "exporting things to CSV".
- Search for exact feature names or error messages to find related reports.
- Try different wording if your first search finds too little.
Combine search with filters
Search works together with every filter in Feedback:

Segment | Search "onboarding" among posts from an Enterprise segment |

Vote count | Search "notifications" in posts with 10 or more votes |
Tip: Combine search with a minimum vote count to surface the most-requested ideas on a topic.

Portal search
Portal users can search your public portal from the search bar on the feedback page. Portal search:
- matches post titles and content, like admin search
- helps users find and vote on existing requests instead of posting duplicates
Portal search only returns published posts the visitor is allowed to see. Posts on boards they can't view, posts waiting for moderation, and deleted posts never appear.
