Notion

Feedback in your workspace. Automatically create a page in a Notion database when feedback is submitted. Each page includes the post title, the author, the post content, and a link back to your portal.

Note: On Quackback Cloud, integrations are available on the Business and Enterprise plans. Self-hosted installs include every integration.

Overview

The Notion integration enables:

  • Create database items from feedback: automatically create a page in a Notion database when new feedback is submitted
  • Rich content: the post content, the author, and a direct link back to the post are included in the Notion page

Note: The Notion integration creates pages only. Status changes aren't synced in either direction.

Prerequisites

  • The Owner or Admin role in Quackback (or a custom role that can manage integrations)
  • A Notion workspace with admin access
  • Self-hosted only: a Notion public integration (created at Notion Developers)

Self-hosted: create your Notion app

Note: On Quackback Cloud, skip this section. Quackback provides the Notion integration for you, so you go straight to connecting.

Self-hosted instances connect through an integration you create. Do this once before you connect.

Create a Notion integration

  1. Go to Notion Developers
  2. Create a new integration
  3. Copy the OAuth Client ID and OAuth Client Secret
  4. Add this redirect URI: https://YOUR_DOMAIN/oauth/notion/callback

Note: You need a public integration with OAuth capabilities, not an internal integration. Internal integrations use API keys, which won't work with Quackback's OAuth flow.

Save the app credentials in Quackback

  1. Go to Admin > Settings > Integrations > Notion
  2. Click Configure credentials
  3. Enter the OAuth Client ID and OAuth Client Secret from your Notion integration, then save

Setup

1. Connect your workspace

  1. Go to Admin > Settings > Integrations > Notion
  2. Click Connect Notion
  3. You'll be redirected to Notion to authorize the integration
  4. Select which pages and databases to share with Quackback
  5. Click Allow access

Tip: During authorization, Notion lets you choose exactly which pages and databases the integration can access. Select at least the database you want to use for feedback items.

2. Select a database

  1. Choose the Notion database where pages should be created. The database must have a Title property.
  2. Quackback saves your choice as soon as you select it. New feedback creates pages in this database.

3. Test the integration

Submit test feedback to confirm a page appears in your Notion database.

Page format

Each new feedback post creates a page with:

  • Title: the post title
  • Callout: "Submitted by" followed by the author's name
  • Content: the post content, up to 2,000 characters
  • Bookmark: a link to the post in your portal

On post delete

When you delete a feedback post with a linked Notion page, the delete dialog shows a checkbox for each linked page. A checked page is added to the integration's Sync history for review. Quackback doesn't archive it for you: open it in Notion and archive it there.

To pre-check this by default, enable the On post delete toggle in the Notion integration settings. You can always override the default per delete.

Manage the integration

Pause

Temporarily stop the integration:

  1. Go to Admin > Settings > Integrations > Notion
  2. Turn off Integration enabled
  3. Page creation pauses, but the connection remains

Reconnect

If you see connection errors:

  1. Click Disconnect and confirm
  2. Click Connect Notion and authorize in Notion again
  3. Reselect the pages and databases to share

Disconnect

To fully remove the integration:

  1. Go to Admin > Settings > Integrations > Notion
  2. Click Disconnect
  3. Confirm the action

Troubleshooting

Pages not being created

  1. Check integration status: look for errors in settings
  2. Verify database selection: ensure a Notion database is selected
  3. Check access: the integration must have access to the selected database (granted during authorization)

Connection errors

  1. Disconnect the integration, then click Connect Notion and authorize again in Notion

Database not appearing

The database must be shared with the integration during the authorization step. Reconnect and select the database when prompted.
