ClickUp
Connect ClickUp to create tasks in a chosen list from new feedback and review status changes when a linked ClickUp task's status changes.
Turn feedback into tasks. Automatically create ClickUp tasks when feedback is submitted. When a linked task's status changes in ClickUp, the change appears in Quackback for your team to review.
Note: On Quackback Cloud, integrations are available on the Business and Enterprise plans. Self-hosted installs include every integration.
Overview
The ClickUp integration enables:
- Create ClickUp tasks from feedback posts: automatically create a task when new feedback is submitted
- Link posts to tasks: link feedback posts to ClickUp tasks for traceability
- Status review: when a linked task's status changes, the change appears in the integration's Sync history for a teammate to review
Prerequisites
- The Owner or Admin role in Quackback (or a custom role that can manage integrations)
- A ClickUp workspace
- Self-hosted only: a ClickUp OAuth application (created at ClickUp Integrations)
Self-hosted: create your ClickUp app
Note: On Quackback Cloud, skip this section. Quackback provides the ClickUp app for you, so you go straight to connecting.
Self-hosted instances connect through an app you create. Do this once before you connect.
Create a ClickUp OAuth application
- Go to ClickUp Integrations
- Create a new application
- Copy the Client ID and Client Secret
Save the app credentials in Quackback
- Go to Admin > Settings > Integrations > ClickUp
Enter the following credentials:
- Client ID from your ClickUp application
- Client Secret from your ClickUp application
Setup
1. Connect your workspace
- Go to Admin > Settings > Integrations > ClickUp
- Click Connect ClickUp
- You'll be redirected to ClickUp to authorize the application
- Review the permissions and click Allow
After authorization, Quackback automatically detects your ClickUp team (workspace).
Note: ClickUp access tokens do not expire, so you will not need to re-authorize unless you disconnect the integration.
2. Select a space and list
Back in Quackback:
- Choose the ClickUp space that contains your target list
- Then choose the specific list where tasks should be created
- Tasks will be created in this list when new feedback is submitted
3. Configure status mappings
Map ClickUp task statuses to Quackback statuses:
- Go to the ClickUp integration settings
- Configure status mappings between ClickUp statuses and Quackback statuses
- Each ClickUp status can be mapped to a corresponding Quackback status, or set to ignore
Status sync works via ClickUp webhooks. When a linked ClickUp task's status changes, the change appears in the integration's Sync history under Needs attention. Quackback doesn't update the post's status automatically: review the change and update the post yourself.
4. Configure events
Choose which events trigger ClickUp actions:
Event | Action |
|---|---|
New post | Create a ClickUp task with the feedback details |
Note: The ClickUp integration creates tasks only for
post.createdevents. Status changes and comments are handled through status sync rather than by creating new tasks.
5. Test
Settings save as you change them, so there's no Save button.
- Submit test feedback to verify a task is created in ClickUp
Task format
When a new feedback post triggers task creation, the ClickUp task includes:
- Name: The feedback post title
- Description (Markdown): The post content, followed by metadata including the author, board, and a link back to the post in Quackback
The task is created in the selected list within your connected ClickUp workspace.
Status sync
When status sync is configured, Quackback registers a webhook with ClickUp to receive taskStatusUpdated events. When a linked ClickUp task's status changes:
- ClickUp sends a webhook event to Quackback
- Quackback extracts the new status from the event's history items
- The change appears in Sync history for review. Quackback doesn't change the linked post's status on its own: update it yourself if the change applies
The webhook signature is verified using HMAC-SHA256 via the X-Signature header.
On post delete
When you delete a feedback post with a linked ClickUp task, the delete dialog shows a checkbox for each linked task. A checked task is added to the integration's Sync history for review. Quackback doesn't close it for you: open it in ClickUp and close it there.
To pre-check this by default, enable the On post delete toggle in the ClickUp integration settings. You can always override the default per delete.
Manage the integration
Pause
Temporarily stop the integration:
- Go to Admin > Settings > Integrations > ClickUp
- Turn off Integration enabled
- Task creation and status sync pause, but the connection remains
Reconnect
If the connection breaks, disconnect and connect again:
- Click Disconnect and confirm
- Click Connect ClickUp and authorize the app again
- Choose the space and list again
Disconnect
To fully remove the integration:
- Go to Admin > Settings > Integrations > ClickUp
- Click Disconnect
- Confirm the action
Note: ClickUp does not support token revocation, so disconnecting removes the integration from Quackback but the token is not revoked on ClickUp's side. You can remove the app from your ClickUp workspace settings if needed.
Who is shown as the creator?
Quackback creates tasks in ClickUp as the account that connected the integration, so ClickUp shows that person as the creator. To change the creator (for example, to a shared bot account), disconnect, sign in to ClickUp as the other account, and connect again.
Troubleshooting
Tasks not being created
- Check integration status: look for errors in settings
- Verify list selection: ensure a ClickUp space and list are selected
- Check event mappings: confirm
post.createdis mapped - Workspace access: the connected ClickUp account must have access to the selected list
Status sync not working
- Check status mappings: ensure ClickUp statuses are mapped to Quackback statuses
- Verify webhook: the ClickUp webhook may need to be re-registered
- Check permissions: the connected account needs access to manage webhooks
Connection errors
ClickUp access tokens do not expire, so an error usually means access was revoked in ClickUp:
- Check whether the app was removed from your ClickUp workspace settings
- Disconnect the integration, then connect ClickUp again and choose the space and list
