Quackback is a customer feedback and support platform. This article explains what it does for your users and your team, and which modules you can turn on.

Feedback is everywhere: support tickets, emails, chat messages, spreadsheets. Quackback brings requests, votes, and conversations into one place, so you can see what users actually want, answer them, and show them what you're building.

Quackback is open source. Use it hosted on Quackback Cloud, or run it on your own servers.

What it does

For your users:

  • Submit feedback through a branded portal or the in-app widget
  • Vote on ideas they care about
  • Track progress on the public roadmap
  • Get notified when their requests ship
  • Chat with your team, find answers in your help center, and check service status

For your team:

  • Triage feedback in a dedicated Feedback area
  • Answer customers in a shared support inbox with Messenger chat, email, and tickets
  • Organize with boards, tags, and statuses
  • Publish roadmaps that update themselves from your statuses
  • Let Quinn, the built-in AI agent, answer support questions and draft replies
  • Automate conversations and tickets with workflows, webhooks, and the REST API
  • Connect to Slack, issue trackers, CRMs, and other tools

Modules

A new workspace starts with Feedback & Roadmaps and Changelog. Turn on Support, Help Center, and Status when you need them in Admin > Settings > General, under Modules.

Feedback boards

Keep feature requests separate from bug reports. Create boards for different types of feedback. Each board can be public or private.

Tip: Start with 2-3 boards (like "Feature Requests" and "Bug Reports"). You can always add more later.

Voting and prioritization

Let users vote on what matters most. Sort by popularity, trending, or recency to see what's in demand.

Custom statuses

Create statuses like "In Design", "In Beta", or "Blocked" to match how your team actually works.

Public roadmap

Show users what's coming. Roadmaps are live views over your feedback: pick a filter and columns, and posts appear as their status changes. Users follow updates on features they voted for.

Changelog

Announce what you've shipped. Link changelog entries to the posts that inspired them, so users see their feedback turned into features.

Support inbox and Messenger

Talk to customers where they are. The support inbox brings real-time Messenger chats, inbound email, and trackable support tickets into one queue, with SLA policies, macros, saved views, and team routing. Your team can chat live with customers from the widget's Messages tab.

Quinn AI and workflows

Quinn, the built-in AI agent, answers customers in Messenger and helps teammates draft replies in the inbox. The workflows engine automates routing, SLAs, follow-ups, and satisfaction surveys without leaving the product.

Help center

Publish a searchable knowledge base on its own subdomain or a custom domain. Organize articles by category, publish when ready, and let users find answers with AI-powered search. Customers can also browse it inside your app from the widget's Help tab.

Status pages

Publish a status page on your portal domain: services with uptime history, incident updates, scheduled maintenance, and email subscribers.

Embeddable widget

Collect feedback and chat with customers without them leaving your app. Add a script tag to your site and a launcher appears: users can browse, vote, submit posts, read help articles, and message your team from an in-app panel.

REST API, webhooks, and MCP

  • REST API and API keys: automate your workflow, sync data to your issue tracker, or power internal dashboards.
  • Webhooks: get real-time HTTP notifications for new posts, status changes, and comments. Filter by board and verify with HMAC-SHA256 signatures.
  • MCP server: AI agents like Claude Code can search feedback, triage posts, work support tickets, update statuses, and create changelog entries through the Model Context Protocol.

Cloud or self-hosted

The product is the same in both editions:

  • Quackback Cloud is managed hosting with Free, Pro, Business, and Enterprise plans. See Quackback Cloud plans.
  • Quackback open source runs on your own infrastructure, so your data stays with you. It is licensed under AGPL-3.0: you can use it freely, self-host it, and modify it. If you distribute a modified version, you must share your changes under the same license. See Self-host Quackback.
