Know which requests come from paying customers. Look up feedback authors in Stripe by email and open their Stripe customer profile from their feedback.

Note: On Quackback Cloud, integrations are available on the Business and Enterprise plans. Self-hosted installs include every integration.

Overview

The Stripe integration enables:

  • Customer lookup: match feedback authors to Stripe customers by email address
  • Billing profile link: see the customer's name and Stripe customer ID next to their feedback, with a link to their profile in the Stripe Dashboard

Prerequisites

  • The Owner or Admin role in Quackback (or a custom role that can manage integrations)
  • A Stripe account
  • A Stripe secret key, or a restricted key with read access to Customers and Balance

Setup

1. Get your Stripe API key

  1. Go to the Stripe Dashboard > API Keys
  2. Copy your Secret key (starts with sk_live_ or sk_test_), or create a restricted key (starts with rk_live_ or rk_test_)

Tip: Use a restricted key for better security. Go to API Keys > Create restricted key and enable read access to Customers and Balance. Quackback checks the key with a balance request when you save it, so the key needs Balance access as well as Customers.

2. Connect to Stripe

  1. Go to Admin > Settings > Integrations > Stripe
  2. Paste your key into the API key field
  3. Click Save. Quackback checks the key before it saves it.

Note: Stripe uses API key authentication rather than OAuth. Your API key is encrypted at rest and only used to query the Stripe API.

3. Test

  1. Submit test feedback with an email address that matches a Stripe customer
  2. Open the post: the customer appears in its Customer context section

How enrichment works

When you open a feedback post, Quackback:

  1. Searches Stripe for a customer matching the author's email
  2. If found, shows the customer's name and ID in the post's Customer context section
  3. Links to their profile in the Stripe Dashboard

Open the profile to check their subscription and payments before you prioritize a request.

Manage the integration

Pause

Temporarily stop customer lookups:

  1. Go to Admin > Settings > Integrations > Stripe
  2. Turn off the Customer context switch
  3. Lookups pause, but the connection remains

Reconnect

If you see connection errors:

  1. Verify your API key is still valid in the Stripe Dashboard
  2. Click Disconnect and confirm
  3. Paste the new key into the API key field and click Save

Disconnect

To fully remove the integration:

  1. Go to Admin > Settings > Integrations > Stripe
  2. Click Disconnect
  3. Confirm the action in the Disconnect Stripe? dialog

Troubleshooting

Customers not being matched

  1. Check email addresses: the feedback author's email must match a Stripe customer's email
  2. Verify API key: ensure the key can read customers
  3. Check integration status: look for errors in settings

"Invalid Stripe API key" error

Quackback could not verify the key when you saved it. The message includes the HTTP status that Stripe returned.

  1. Check that the key is correct and has not been revoked or rotated
  2. If you use a restricted key, make sure it also has Balance access

Test vs. live mode

Stripe test keys (sk_test_ and rk_test_) only match test customers. Use a live key (sk_live_ or rk_live_) to match real customers.
