Changelog

Let anyone share feedback — no account needed

Requiring sign-up before someone can leave feedback means losing voices. Quackback now supports anonymous voting, posting, and commenting so you can hear from everyone.

Anonymous voting

Users can upvote posts without signing in — enabled by default, with rate limiting to prevent abuse. No configuration needed.

Anonymous posting & commenting

Want to go further? Enable anonymous posting and commenting from Settings → Permissions. Both are off by default, giving you full control over how open your feedback boards are.

You can enable each independently:

  • Anonymous posting — let users submit new feedback without an account
  • Anonymous commenting — let users join discussions without signing in
  • Friendly display names — anonymous users get auto-generated names like "Blue Falcon" instead of showing as "Unknown"

Full-featured widget

The embedded widget now includes the complete post detail experience:

  • Voting with real-time count updates
  • Comments with threaded replies
  • Status badges and relative timestamps
  • Seamless session transfer — users clicking "View full discussion" arrive at the portal already authenticated

Widget SDK for developers

Build richer integrations between your product and your feedback boards:

  • Event subscriptions — listen for vote, post:created, comment:created, and identify events
  • Session metadata — attach key-value pairs to widget sessions, stored on any posts created
  • Subscribe/unsubscribe — use on/off commands or the returned unsubscribe function
